NUTRITION, ORTHOMOLECULAR MEDICINE
Large changes in the environment, including diet and other habits in lifestyle,...

produced during agricultural and industrial revolution 200 years ago and 10.000, respectively, have occurred too quickly on an evolutionary scale to fit the human genome properly.   Therefore, this discordance between our ancient and genetically determined biology and food habits, physical activity and other lifestyle factors have led to the emergence of many so-called diseases of civilization.   These diseases include obesity, type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, rheumatic and autoimmune diseases. All these play an important role in musculoskeletal disorders, visceral or psychological with the osteopath, physiotherapist, doctor, nutritionist, nurse, dietician or fitness professional is in their daily practice. The use of nutrition, exercise, sleep regulation, orthomolecular therapy and psychotherapeutic techniques can help place our ancient genome in harmony with the environment, and thus resolve many of the chronic diseases that affect us now on Western civilization.   OBJECTIVES  General objectives: Analyze the major changes in the environment for agricultural and industrial revolution, as a basis for chronic degenerative diseases. Know the basics of optimum nutrition for humans from an evolutionary perspective. Know how nutrition, sleep regulation and orthomolecular therapy can be used as a treatment for several chronic degenerative diseases. Know the main diagnostic tools and nutritional health status of the patient for a prescription personalized diet and orthomolecular therapy. Teaching students how to optimize the health status of an apparently healthy person to delay or prevent the onset of degenerative diseases. Provide students the knowledge to know how to interpret scientific studies of nutrition and be able to identify which studies are based on scientific evidence and what not.
