 JAOA—The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association is the official scientific publication of the American Osteopathic Association, as well as the premier scholarly, peer-reviewed publication of the osteopathic medical profession.

The Journal also publishes medical education and special communication articles, as well as other clinically relevant pieces. Articles and letters on controversial topics may—at the editor in chief's discretion—be published in the JAOA, provided that all sources are clearly identified.

Since its first issue in 1979 it has provided practitioners, students and researchers with the highest level of theoretical and clinical articles on acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, dietary medicine, medical qigong and Chinese medical history and philosophy.
